William's Studio Philosophy:

Music has shaped every culture around the world. It is a one-of-a-kind language and a natural tool of self-expression. It crosses every boundary and can truly show that we are not that different no matter our race, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, or religion. Every student has creative elements in music that can be developed as their unique means of expression as I have done.

Objectives:

Instill a love of music and the piano that will last far beyond weekly lessons.
Develop technique and performance skills at the piano.
Explore musical and cultural perspectives through exposure and instruction in music history, theory, literature, listening.
Nurture discipline and self-esteem and teach life skills: goal setting, practice habits, and time management.

The studio is owned and operated by William Nelson. He has studied and played piano for 30+ years. William has worked as a teacher in the Pennsylvania public school system and as an instructor in his own piano studio. In addition to educating future musicians, he has also performed for events such as weddings, funerals, church services and has been music director for college-level musical productions.

William is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association.

Nelson's Piano Studio is now partnering with Fostering Music! Fostering Music is a charitable organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children currently in, or adopted out of, the foster care system, by providing musical instruments and quality music instruction in conjunction with local music stores. By partnering with local foster care agencies, they are able to identify the children in Western Pennsylvania with the greatest need.
