Educational Experience

Teaching

William received his B.S. in Music Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in December of 2009. After completing the required coursework and methods courses, he finished his studies by student teaching in the Armstrong School District for his elementary placement and the Oil City Area School District for his secondary placement.

During his elementary placement at Dayton Elementary, William worked with veteran elementary music teacher Jo Ellen Stockdale teaching K-6 General Music, 5th and 6th Grade Chorus, Beginner Band, and 5th and 6th Grade Band. Mrs. Stockdale had a very full and busy schedule which helped William learn time management and planning for an entire music department. He then worked with Steve Luxbacher at Oil City Middle School and High School for his secondary placement. There he taught 6th Grade General Music, 8th Grade Chorus, 9th Grade Choir, Women's Choir, the Senior High A Capella Group, and Senior High Choir. Along with these in-school ensembles, he also worked after school with both the Men's and Women's' Quartets as well as the All School Musical Auditions.

After graduating, William became a substitute teacher in the Armstrong School District, the Clarion Area School District, the Redbank Valley School District, and the Clarion-Limestone School District. He also held a long-term substitute position in the Armstrong School District from August 2011-February 2012. While at this position, he worked at two different elementary schools teaching K-6 General Music, and 5th and 6th Grade Chorus. He also had Learning Support music classes and an Autistic Support music class.

William also considers his theatrical experience educational in nature as well. While working with children as young as five, elementary and high school students, college students, and adults, he learned classroom management and the educational needs of students of all ages. William was also able to work on rehearsal techniques for both vocal and instrument groups and concepts such as blend and phrase endings.

He is currently working on expanding his piano studio.
